RB Salzburg “Team of the Year” for the fourth time in a row – sports mix
On Thursday, FC Red Bull Salzburg will be named Austria’s Team of the Year for the fourth time in a row.
The Bundesliga series champions were ranked first 66 times by 265 journalists. With a total of 694 points, the “Bulls” refer the successful Austrian ski jumping team of women with Daniela Iraschko-Stolz, Sophie Sorschag, Chiara Kreuzer and Sara Marita Kramer (454 points / 30 times 1st place) and the combined duo Johannes Lamparter / Lukas Greiderer (408 points / 22 times 1st place) in second and third place.
Salzburg claimed the Austrian championship title for the eighth time in a row last season, and in addition to winning the ÖFB Cup, the people from Mozartstadt also qualified for the Champions League.
Red Bull Salzburg now holds five awards in the Team of the Year category and is counting on the success of the predecessor club SV Austria Salzburg from 1994.

Lamparter Newcomer of the Year
Johannes Lamparter, double world champion at the Nordic World Ski Championships 2021 in Oberstdorf, can look forward to being named Austria’s climber of the year.
The 19-year-old Nordic combined athlete prevails in the fan vote against Olympic cycling champion Anna Kiesenhofer and biathlon world champion Lisa Hauser.
In the Team of the Year category, Johannes Lamparter and gold partner Lukas Greiderer still missed out. In addition to the team sprint, Lamparter also secured gold in the individual championship.
Maier receives award for the best sporting moments
Hermann Maier can also look forward to a “NIKI” on Thursday. On the occasion of the 50th anniversary of the Austrian Sports Aid, the Austrian ski legend is honored for the greatest sporting moment of the last five decades.
The local sports fans were allowed to vote for the 25 greatest sports moments, Hermann Maier’s spectacular dive at the 1998 Olympic Games in Nagano received the most votes. Only a few days after his departure, the “Herminator” was crowned double Olympic champion with gold medals in Super G and giant slalom. Now this unforgettable sporting moment is also rewarded with a “NIKI”.
