The German fashion retailer will employ over 150 people in Zurich. As “20 minutes” writes today, Zalando will move into the 23rd and half of the 7th floor of the Prime Tower next spring.

Virtual wardrobe aims to reduce returns
As early as next year, Zalando plans to provide its customers with technology for measuring the body. Later they want to create avatars. “Maybe 2023,” says Carr.
This new technology is crucial for the fashion retailer. Customers should find the right size for their trousers, blouse or jacket while shopping online. In this way, Zalando will reduce the high number of returns and thus also its CO2 emissions.
Last year Zalando took over the Zurich start-up and ETH spin-off Fision – she announced at the time that she wanted to set up a tech hub in Zurich.
The software start-up Fision was founded five years ago in Zurich and relies on 3-D body scanning. In other words, it offers the technology that is needed to measure body mass precisely.
Eight billion in sales made
Zalando is one of the largest online platforms for fashion in Europe. Around 16,000 employees work for the fashion giant, while the online store says it has around 45 million active customers. In 2020, Zalando will have sales of almost eight billion euros worldwide.
After Germany, Switzerland is the second largest market for the clothing giant. In 2019, sales in Switzerland rose to over CHF 900 million. In addition to Helsinki and Dublin, Zurich will be the Zalando hub worldwide, dealing with new third-party technologies.
