More patients covid in the ICU in the last 24 hours. Lisbon and Tagus Valley recorded the highest number of cases and deaths
In the last 24 hours, Portugal diagnosed 777 new cases of covid-19 and recorded six more deaths associated with the disease, announced the epidemiological bulletin of the Directorate-General for Health (DGS), released this Thursday. It is the third consecutive day that the number of inpatients has dropped again, however there are more covid patients in the Intensive Care Units. In the last 24 hours, Lisbon and Vale do Tejo registered the highest number of cases and deaths.
Of the 777 confirmed cases, 262 were reported in Lisbon and Vale do Tejo, 179 in the Center, 178 in the North, 93 in Alentejo and 34 in Algarve. In the autonomous regions, 19 new infections were registered in the Azores and 12 in Madeira.
As for deaths, three occurred in Lisbon and Vale do Tejo, two in the Center and one in Alentejo.
Today’s bulletin also reveals another drop – the third in a row – in the number of patients admitted to Portuguese hospitals due to the virus: there are now 321, 14 less than yesterday. Of these, 56, two more than in the last balance, are receiving treatment in Intensive Care Units.
At the moment, Portugal now has a cumulative total of 1,077,963 cases – of which 30,077 are active (43 more compared to yesterday) – and 18,071 have killed since the beginning of the pandemic.
On the other hand, 728 more people have recovered from the disease, bringing the total number recovered since the start of the pandemic to 1,029,815.
Health authorities have 21,586 contacts under surveillance, down from 99 on Wednesday.
The risk matrix will be updated tomorrow. For now, data from Wednesday reveal that Portugal has an incidence of 83.2 cases of infection per 100,000 inhabitants in the last 14 days. When considering only the continental territory, a treatment is 83.2. The national Rt is 0.97 and on the mainland it is 0.98.
