Monday building transmitted to Toulouse: its inhabitants will come back from here
On Wednesday evening, the inhabitants of the three-story building located at number 11 rue Maury, in the Saint-Aubin district, in Toulouse, were evacuated, following a flood in the cellar.
“Just before 6 pm, a first person came knocking on our door to tell us not to take a shower or flush the toilet, because of water damage in the basement and an upwelling. Worn out ”, explains this 22-year-old young woman, tenant since September of an apartment on the second floor. She just had time to go out for a run, as for her return, she found herself facing the fire trucks, quickly joined by the Police and the neighborhood mayor. “They looked where the leak could come from, probed the neighboring caves. It was there that they noticed that the cellar of number 9 was also flooded. This is probably what would have caused the collapse of one of the foundations, which would have broken a pipe but nothing is certain, ”continues the young woman.
After the firefighters finished stabilizing the structure and pumping the water, the residents of the seven apartments were able to collect some belongings from their homes, accompanied by a police officer, before leaving the premises. It was then 10:30 p.m. “I took the bare essentials: a toothbrush, underwear …”, slips the young woman. She was able to reach her parents’ home in the evening like the other regional ones, while the other residents were accommodated at the Hotel Castellane, by their property manager ACI
But for now, the young tenant still does not know when she will be able to find her accommodation. “On a strictly no information!” », She assures.
A leak in the street next door
According to the latest information provided by the district mayor, Caroline Adoue-Bielsa, “Véolia would have found the leak, it would come from rue Thionville, located just behind”. Still according to the elected, “the work should be done very quickly. By Monday at the latest, residents can return to their building, ”she assures us.
