Monaco sets up a space affairs office – Pages Monaco
The Sovereign Prince signed Sovereign Ordinance No. 8.809 establishing a Space Affairs Office. Its creation follows a dialogue with the economic players in this sector in the Principality, whose activities include the manufacture of Earth observation satellites, telecommunications and spacecraft.
By creating a “one-stop-shop” for space affairs, reporting to the Interministerial Delegation for the Digital Transition, the Principality is setting the first milestone in order to support the development of these companies: simplify the administrative framework and serve as a gateway. entry for new players in this sector wishes to settle in Monaco.
At the international level, the Office of Space Affairs ensures the representation of the Principality in the dedicated bodies, in collaboration with the Department of External Relations and Cooperation. The Space Affairs Office will also be able to interact with its foreign counterparts and thus promote international partnerships for the benefit of specialized Monegasque companies.
“The development of the space sector in the Principality of Monaco reinforces the attractiveness of our sovereign State in a new field. With the creation of this entity, we will be called upon to participate in discussions on the subject alongside global and emerging space powers ”, underlines Frédéric Genta, Interministerial Delegate in charge of Digital Transition. It allows, among other things, a better observation of the Earth and an understanding of climatic phenomena, but also the reduction of the digital divide, thanks to the provision of a high speed in the territories until the isolated ones.
