“They were cute, kind, smiling. They asked me for directions on a map. I didn’t realize anything, ”the victim explained in substance to investigators from the center division of the Departmental Directorate of Public Security (DDSP). At the beginning of the week, this woman over 70 years old was the target of young thieves who officiated in the tram in Bordeaux.

The victim was targeted in the station area. While she was buying a ticket at the tram station with her credit card, she did not see a teenage girl watching her carefully, memorizing her credit card code. Once in the tram, the septuagenarian was treated by the young girl and two accomplices. The female trio played the big game on her, asking her very politely to guide them. While one distracted the lady’s attention, another slipped her hand into her pocket, retrieving the credit card and immediately handing it over to her third friend. She got off at the next station and a file to a distributor in the Cours de la Marne where she withdrew 200 euros.

But what the young thieves did not know is that their merry-go-round was discreetly observed by plainclothes police officers, patrolling the tram and on alert for this type of theft which has been the subject of several complaints in recent weeks. The officers took action as soon as they could. Two thieves were arrested. Brought back to the central police station, the two young girls aged 13 and 18, of Bosnian nationality and already known in other cities for similar facts, were referred to the prosecution on Wednesday, October 13. The oldest is called before the criminal court next March.
