“The condition of the burial ground today does not correspond to the dignity of the place of reverence. The boards are pushed into the terrain so that in places they completely merge with it or protrude irregularly above it. Granite is also contaminated and grass or turf grows over the boards. Stone round pedestals are also often pressed into the grass, “said Deputy Mayor Petr Hladík.
Horizontal signboards will be repaired, signs and concrete foundations under signboards will be restored. “Our intention and goal of the repair is to remove the slabs and restore the plain concrete foundation under them, in which two steel mandrels will be installed. The upper surface of the foundation will be adapted so that the solid granite slabs protrude evenly above the ground. The tombstones will be cleaned and impregnated with a means that prevents the formation of algae. The granite tombstones will then also be lifted over the grassy terrain so that it is possible to mow the grass in their immediate vicinity without any problems, ”explained Hladík.
