Finland and Russia may open rail links for Christmas season – Economy and business
HELSINKI, October 14. / TASS /. Finland and Russia are working on a plan to reopen rail links, one of the options for opening it for the Christmas season. This was reported on Thursday by TASS in the press service of the Finnish terminal VR.

The Christmas season in Finland usually opens in late November – early December.
On Thursday, Finland made a decision from October 18 for passenger railway communication with the Russian Federation at the Vainikkala border checkpoint on the Finnish-Russian border, its closure earlier was an obstacle to the resumption of passenger traffic by rail.
Earlier, VR reported that the company is ready to resume rail transportation of passengers, however, this requires that this type of transportation on the Finnish side be opened due to the pandemic.
Air transportation has already been resumed between the countries. Entry from the Russian Federation to Finland is not yet possible, the restriction is at least until October 24.
