Family in court: Nazi party for Hitler’s birthday?
court
A Flachgauer family – with a previous connection to the FPÖ – is on trial on Thursday for being re-employed by the National Socialists. One of the sons applied for a license plate with “88” – according to the indictment, the abbreviation for “Heil Hitler”. Cell phone messages related to Nazi Germany and a family celebration on Hitler’s birthday are also topics of the trial.
On April 20, 2012, according to the prosecution, the family celebrated the festival. Hitler would have been 123 years old there. It is said that “Führerwein” was also drunk – with a corresponding portrait on the label. The family set their table with a swastika flag and pierced a cake with the inscription 88 to celebrate the day – in accordance with the desired license plate for a child’s car, which had already been applied for in 2011.
Range of charges of prosecution
According to investigators, the accused family man is said to have told his wife to tell the authorities that “88” is about the anniversary of their relationship. She did the same with the police. Therefore, they now have to answer for false statements. Another topic of the trial in court were the relevant pictures with Nazi motifs that were exchanged via cell phone messages. In addition, there were messages with “inappropriate satire with reference to Nazi Germany,” according to the prosecution.
Politically active for the FPÖ
The two sons were still community politicians of the FPÖ until 2018. In addition to the quartet, an acquaintance of the family is also charged. The legal penalty for National Socialist re-employment is between one and ten years imprisonment per person for convictions.
