Airline Delta Air Lines in the following year, after a break of more than two and a half years caused by the coronavirus pandemic, regular flights to Prague. From May 26, 2022, the American carrier will fly again between Prague and JF Kennedy Airport in New York. The line can be operated up to seven times a week by plane Boeing 767-300ER. The resumption of Delta Air Lines flights to Prague was confirmed by Prague Airport on Tuesday.

“The renewal of direct flights to New York, which was one of the most attractive long-distance flights at Prague Airport in 2019, is excellent news, especially for all Czech passengers, who will be able to enjoy convenient and fast connections to the eastern edge of the United States after two years. Before the current crisis of the summer between Prague and New York, more than 70,000 passengers every year, which represents a strong potential for year-round direct connections with Prague, “ said Jiří Pos, Chairman of the Board of Directors of Prague Airport.

The covid-19 pandemic and the associated epidemic measures have hit long-distance lines around the world, including Prague, hard. In 2019, Prague Airport has fifteen long-distance routes, currently only routes to Dubai and Doha are in operation. In particular, the release of anti-epidemic measures is needed for the gradual resumption of long-haul flights. The US government recently promised that vaccinated foreigners will be able to travel to the US from November and that tourist trips will also be possible. This should contribute to an increase in the number of passengers between the Czech Republic and the USA.

“Restoring a direct connection with the USA is absolutely essential from the point of view of the tourism received. In this way, we will be able to drive to the constant habit of tourists from the USA, whom we enjoyed as destinations before the coronavirus crisis. Very creditworthy tourists from the United States of America are welcome clients of entrepreneurs in tourism not only in Prague but also in other regions. Americans are especially characterized by longer stays and visitors outside the capital, “ said Jan Herget, director of CzechTourism.

Delta Air Lines is the second renewed long-distance connection to the USA. As we informed at the end of September, they are also counting on returning to Prague United Airlinesthat we release to the sale of tickets for our trip from Newark to Prague.
