A window on the world, to escape
This year, the selection includes 14 films in official selection and 16 in retrospective selection.
The festival offers an opening to the world in these times of global health crisis. The juries discover the films at the same time as the public, to award seven prizes:
- The Golden Fleece of the adventure film (financially endowed by the city of Dijon): the grand prize of the festival.
- The Special Jury Prize: the special choice of the jury equivalent to the 2nd prize.
- The Jean-Marc Boivin Prize: it rewards the authenticity of an adventure (like the adventure experienced by the Dijon adventurer Jean-Marc Boivin).
- The Alain Bombard Prize: it is awarded to the film which contains a lesson for the future (according to the wishes of the navigator Alain Bombard).
- The Public Prize for the Screens of the Adventure of Dijon: the public’s favorite.
- The Youth Prize of the city of Dijon (endowed by the Gibert Joseph Dijon bookstore): this is the choice of the youth jury.
- The Ushuaïa TV / Screens of the Adventure of Dijon Prize: the choice of the channel (rewarded by a broadcast on Ushuaïa TV, subject to the adventure of broadcasting rights), this is equivalent to € 3,000.
The festival also offers two literary prizes, among a selection of five books: The Golden Fleece of the Adventure Book, awarded by a jury of professionals and the Public Prize of the Dijon Library (in partnership with the Municipal Library of Dijon).
The presidency of the film jury is ensured by Élisabeth Revol, mountaineer, Himalayan, while Jean-Luc Coatalem, travel writer, journalist, will be president of the jury of the Golden Fleece of the adventure book.
30 years of films, to see or re-watch
On the occasion of 30 years, the Ecrans de l’Aventure offer a retrospective selection of 30 of their films announced, screened at Feuillants, but also available for rental on VOD (https://films.lesecransdelaventure.com/ecransdelaventure)
From the movie Maurice Thiney and Harald and Mar-Htay Melcher, “They live on top of the trees” (special mention of the jury, 1997) at “Climbing Blind” by Alastair Lee (Golden Fleece of the adventure film, 2020), a whole part of the history of Adventure is thus highlighted, marked with the seal of quality. Sailing, mountaineering, cycle touring, sliding, scientific or long-distance expeditions, total immersions … # Screens30years.
30 years of adventure film: the 2021 edition of the Ecrans de l’Aventure in Dijon
Arnaud Lefèvre received the navigator Eric Bellion during the 12/13 this Thursday, October 14, 2021.
Eric Bellion offers the film, out of competition: “Jolokia, sailors like no other”. At the beginning, two enthusiasts, Eric Bellion and Pierre Meisel, are given a somewhat crazy challenge: assemble a crew of twelve neophytes, train them and engage them on sailing courses usually reserved for experienced sailors. The idea seems unreasonable, but yet, within a year, the crew of “One-eyed social and physical”, as they like to say, find themselves on board Jolokia to take the start of prestigious offshore courses. The result is beyond their expectations.
