Reinventing your interior, giving a second life to our damaged objects rather than throwing them away, stocking up on ideas and tips: it’s the do-it-yourself show and it’s this week at MEETT in Toulouse (Haute Garonne).
Fun and economical
It is a meeting in the air of time, that of smart consumption, limited waste, increased and regenerated creativity. The former “Creative Leisure Fair” – which attracted 15,000 visitors before the health crisis – returns this year under the name of Do-it-yourself fair.
It will be held from Thursday 14 to Sunday 17 October 2021 to MEET, the new Exhibition Center and Convention Center. And ten weeks before Christmas, we can say that this meeting is timely.
The spirit of the do-it-yourself show is to encourage creation, to rediscover the creativity that is in us. The containment has caused people to expand their imaginations. As proof, sales of sewing machines have increased significantly over the past two years. People make their masks, they improve their interior, make cushions or repair their old handbags… ‘it’s damaged, but repair it, give it another life. “
“Anti-Prozac workshops! “
This 22e Salon will also be an opportunity to meet new Toulouse creators, whose informed and curious public already know the tutorials on the Internet. “There is a growing desire to no longer buy these formatted and fashionable products, which everyone already has in their wardrobe or cupboards,” assures Nathalie Marques.
A ladies’ lounge? Clichés die hard: if the “thread arts” workshops (patchwork, quilting, boutis, embroidery, knitting, sewing, lace, etc.) are indeed more popular with women, many men come to wander the aisles to find them. finding DIY, scrapbooking and upcycling (or upcycling) ideas means transforming a product to give it a second life.
DIY, whether feminine or masculine, is above all a relaxation activity with almost therapeutic powers. It’s an anti-Prozac. “
Many designers will be present
Many workshops will allow you to practice these manual activities and to stock up on advice and good ideas from the creators who will arrive at the Show.
Among them: Viny Diy, Avril La Rouge, Mythologiae, Nicolas Jover, Yannick Delplace, Melon Créations, Coccinelle Demoiselle, Jardin Secret, Solyluna Macramé, Les Chouettes Cousettes de Julie, Quilt and Patch, La Bulletterie, Créatisuus, Mirage of Ink, Laura Naturo… For all tastes, all desires!
