Sweden’s coach leaves hint of Coventry City star’s future after late commas for his country
Coventry City star striker Viktor Gyokeres is expected to report back to Ryton with a feather in his cap on Thursday, ready to prepare for the trip to Blackburn Rovers after ten days away on international service with Sweden.
The 23-year-old was called as a late replacement for Zlatan Ibrahimovic and traveled to join the squad after playing a major role in the 4-1 CBS Arena demolition of Fulham.
And even though form-center-forward only managed just over ten minutes in his country’s two World Cup qualifiers, a 3-0 victory over Kosovo last weekend, where he got four minutes in stoppage time and a 2-0 victory over Greece on Tuesday night When he continued in the 87th minute and looked the last three and four for stops, his manager Janne Andersson has been impressed by the Sky Blues player.
While he did not get much playing time, Gyokeres will have benefited from training with world-class players and should return to Coventry with increased confidence after receiving national team recognition and two more caps in his CV after his involvement in a tour of Doha 2019.

And he has really made a good impression on Andersson, who will have had to think, possibly as a long-term replacement for the 40-year-old Ibrahimovic.
“I like the type. He was about to do the first thing he did when he arrived (against Kosovo). ”
Talk to The football channel, the national coach added: “He has developed. He is a very straight forward. I like the type.
“He drives straight ahead and is very tender, tough and solid.
“And besides, he has gained confidence with his shot in England.
“So what we saw a couple of years ago on the tour in January, I think he has developed further and is a number better today.
“He does well in training and it is absolutely not impossible that he can come in and play.”
Gyökeres meanwhile said of his experience: “It’s great fun to be here. I hope I do well in training. It’s just to enjoy. ”
