Prague – In the morning, negotiations between coalitions Together and Mayors and Pirates on the formation of a joint government began in the Club of Civic Democrats in the seat of the Chamber of Deputies. The representatives of the parties should agree today on a schedule of meetings at which they will make a program statement. In the coming weeks, the parties would have to address specific program areas and future political arrangements. The discussions on the division of ministries and their occupation are described by the representatives of the coalitions as premature, they have already defined the topics that should occur to them.

The opposition coalitions Together (ODS, KDU-ČSL and TOP 09) and Pirates with STAN agreed on Saturday after the elections to intend to form a majority government together. They have a total of 108 seats. Today, the chairmen of the other parties Marian Jurečka (KDU-ČSL), Markéta Pekarová Adamová (TOP 09), Vít Rakušan (STAN) and Ivan Bartoš (Pirates) sat on the leading track alongside the chairman of the Civic Democrats and the candidate for prime minister Petr Fiala.

Another negotiator for the ODS is Zbyněk Stanjura, the People’s Party was represented by Vice-President and Senator Šárka Jelínková and the head of the House Club Marek Výborný, TOP 09 by Senator and Vice-President Tomáš Czernin. Vice-presidents Petr Gazdík and Věslav Michalik came on behalf of the Mayors, Jakub Michálek and Senator Lukáš Wagenknecht on behalf of Pirates with Bartoš.

Stanjura said on Tuesday that the priority in the coming weeks will be to agree on a program statement, and only then will it negotiate the division of ministries and personnel. According to the Pirates and STAN, the schedule of negotiations should be set so that it is possible to compile a list of topics on which the formed coalition does not agree within two weeks. “The most up-to-date is the negotiations on the inaugural meeting of the Chamber of Deputies, we will wait for the proposal to come up with Together as the winner of the elections,” said STAN Chairman Vít Rakušan. According to the leader of the People’s Party, Marian Jurečka, the parties will do their utmost to ensure that the program statement is issued within three weeks.
