Seoul says Russia can play a role in restarting US-DPRK dialogue – International Panorama
SEOUL, October 13. / TASS /. Russia can use significant support in resuming dialogue on the nuclear issue of the Korean Peninsula. This was reported by the Incheon International Airport before the flight to Moscow by the Special Representative of the Republic of Korea for Peace and Security.
“The peace process on the Korean Peninsula is currently on hold. He added that “Russia is a country that understands the North Korean position well.” “In order to improve inter-Korean relations and resume negotiations between the US and the North, we will ask Moscow to continue to play a constructive role, as it has done before,” said No Gyu Dok.
A day earlier, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Korea announced that the special envoy would discuss with the Deputy Foreign Minister of the Russian Federation Igor Morgulov ways to resume the dialogue with the DPRK. It is expected that the meeting in Moscow will also touch upon other issues, in particular, the initiative of South Korean President Moon Jae-in to document the end of the Korean War of 1950-53.
This will be the second personal meeting of No Gyu Dok and Morgulov this year. The Russian deputy minister visited Seoul in August this year. During the trip, he held talks with the US special envoy for the DPRK, Song Kim, during the discussion of the parties to discuss the prospects for resolving the situation around the Korean Peninsula.
