PS questions Feared about visits to inpatients in psychiatry in Lisbon
This formal question addressed to Marta Temido is headed by socialist deputy Telma Guerreira, and signed by the vice-president of the Assembly of the Republic Edite Estrela, by the leader of JS, Miguel Costa Matos, and by Hortense Martins, Sónia Fertuzinhos, Alexandra Tavares de Moura , Elza Pais, Bruno Aragão, Ivan Gonçalves, Diogo Leão, Fernando Anastácio, among others.
This group of socialist deputies referred that the Público newspaper recently reported that, because of the covid-19 pandemic, “in the Adolescent and Young Adult Shared Service of the Psychiatric Hospital Center of Lisbon, for more than a year and a half, as non-visitors were authorized and the contact between family and friends and interned youth took place through closed windows “.
“In the same news, it is mentioned that an administration was unaware of a situation”, the PS deputies immediately point out.
For this group of PS deputies, the country is facing a matter that “deserves clarification”, namely in the sense of knowing whether the Ministry of Health “is in a position to clarify the concern raised”.
If so, these deputies want to know what measures the Ministry of Health has taken “to mitigate the situation” in a particular psychiatric service.
“What monitoring mechanisms exist between the tutelage and the hospitals that introduce changes in procedures in time to avoid difficulties for users and their families? If these mechanisms do not exist, is the tutelage considering introducing them?” .
