The festival of lights should be able to make a comeback this year 2021. And with great fanfare, according to the mayor of Lyon (Rhône).
During an interview with our colleagues from Progress, Gregory Doucet has promised the return of a “grandiose festival”, which will gain ground in the city: this year, the traditional celebration of December 8 should extend to Blandan Park, for example.
There should also be more mediation, “to facilitate access to works for the youngest”.
A canceled 2020 edition
The 2020 edition had been canceled due to the Covid19. Much to the chagrin of Grégory Doucet who, week after week, had said “I bet” and promised that his teams would work hard for a “light” edition, allowing to combine sanitary conditions and traditional celebration.
In the end, the Lyon city councilor had to give up arms in the face of the epidemic situation, and December 8, 2020 took place under the sign of (second) confinement rather than celebration.
This year, the ecological mayor seems to want to offer a nice revenge to the Lyonnais. Budget planned for this edition: 2.4 million euros.
