Index – Domestic – Márki -Zay is very much in Budapest, DK is worried about Dobrev
Peter Mark Zay has been “going very well” in the capital in recent days an HVG360 from several sources.
The portal writes that because of this, those who were confident in the victory of Klára Dobrev are already expecting close competition in the circles of DK. Moreover, one of their socialist sources in support of Klara Dobrev expects Mark-Zay to win.
According to their source on the spot, the pre-election may be perceived by voters as a kind of “opposition-changing attitude”, many of them are fed up with Fidesz’s left-wing politicians for the past 20 years.
All this is surprising in that DK is traditionally considered strong in the capital. On the other hand, Mayor Gergely Karácsony has stepped back in favor of Péter Márki-Zay, which may explain why the candidate for the Everybody’s Hungary Movement has grown so much. In the first round, mostly Gergely Karácsony took the districts of the capital and in several places Péter Márki-Zay was already ahead of Dobrev.
In addition to the above, HVG360 was informed that although the Socialists are now gathering around Klara Dobrev, they are not expected to move from the MSZP to the SE in the long run. However, a politician with insights into the MSZP and DK affairs said that
Ferenc Gyurcsány’s years of efforts to incorporate the MSZP seem to be ripe for success.
At least as far as the pre-selection campaign is concerned. Another left-wing politician, who asked for anonymity, said he thought it was expected that Gergely Karácsony’s request could be further behind the Socialists behind Klára Dobrev.
For most, however, this is an obvious, value-based choice, as ideologically it is much easier to identify with the left-wing Dobrev than with the Christian-conservative Mark-Zay.
he said. Meanwhile, among socialist politicians, several acknowledged the good relations with Klara Dobrev. A source close to the DK said that less than a third of the politicians who took a stand for Klara Dobrev approached them in person, usually deciding to do so.
Exceptions include the mayor of Szombathely, András Nemény, who was called by Klára Dobrev herself for a public forum in Szombathely.
I said that I can support it on the condition that if they win, they will receive funding for the local government, and he has promised to do so, András Nemény told HVG360 about it.
