At Prague Airport, he was training today in an intervention in a plane crash during landing
The aircraft was lent by Smartwings for emergency response training.
Today, Václav Havel Prague Airport carries out exercises for rescue, security and operational units of the airport. They trained interventions in the aircraft accident during landing and checked the follow-up activities according to the procedures of the Airport Emergency Plan. The exercise was also attended by the police and the Samaritan Association of the Czech Republic. The plane was lent by Smartwings.
“We sent four emergency specials to the scene of the accident, a total of eight airport fire trucks. 18 firefighters took part in the exercise. We confirmed the fast range, we verified the interventions to extinguish the burning engine on the aircraft, the reaction of the crew during the evacuation, the activities of the fire brigade during the evacuation of passengers and also the cooperation of the units at Prague Airport, “ said exercise commander Zdeněk Čelikovský.
In the next part of the exercise, the active group for removing stationary aircraft from operating areas was verified. The exercise took place during full operation of the airport and did not affect the smooth check-in of passengers or the normal flight schedule at Prague Airport.
“We have confirmed our ability to react very quickly and intervene in air accidents and to cooperate perfectly with other components in the event of an emergency.” added Zdeněk Truhlář, Security Strategy and Management Manager.
A large emergency drill of an air accident is organized by Prague Airport at least once every two years. The last time it took place in Ruzyně was in April 2019. Smaller trainings take place throughout the year.
