The accident happened at night. A car launched at full speed first struck a pole. Two people seated in the front of the vehicle died instantly, they were 20 years old. A third passenger was extricated and then sent in serious condition. While the firefighters intervened on the spot, a second vehicle hit an ambulance head-on, throwing it on its side. A rescuer was injured, but her life is not in danger.
The speed at the origin of the tragedy, according to the investigators
The driver of this second car had hurriedly left the scene. He eventually surrendered to authorities and was overheard by police brigade accident. According to local radio, he would have assured that he was not driving fast at the time of impact with the ambulance.
Still, investigators believe speed is at the root of the double drama, says The Dauphiné Libéré. Investigations are underway and toxicological analyzes, as well as autopsies, are planned.
