a web-series filmed in Toulouse evokes the stage of remission
Posted
As part of’October rose, the Toulouse Oncopole broadcasts on its YouTube channel a web-series of 4 episodes on post-breast cancer. Educational and funny videos to help patients and loved ones better understand this distressing period. #IlsOntLaSolution
Her name is Emilie. This young woman, in remission, is the heroine of the web series launched by the Toulouse cancer campus. Emilie’s path, which has 4 episodes, takes the viewer into the universe of this forty-something for a year. We discover that the end of treatment is not synonymous with a return to a normal life. Patients often fear a fall, hence the importance of psychological follow-up. We also learn, in episode 2, that breast cancer patients can suffer from cognitive disorders, during and after the onset: difficulty concentrating, memory impairment …Emilie’s path approached all these subjects in a humorous way, with each time, invaluable medical advice.
Informing women that support can be set up outside the hospital, that they should not be left alone when faced with the aftermath of illness, such are the objectives of this fiction. Actors, directors and medical staff of the Oncopole worked hand in hand. “We talked a lot with Martin, the director to explain the messages we wanted to convey “ explains Florence Dalenc, oncologist at IUCT-Oncopole. Caregivers and patients also took part in writing the script. Eliane Soucasse, in remission, even played a character, that of Emilie’s neighbor. “I believe that all patients find themselves in the character of Emilie because nothing has been left to chance” she concludes.
This romantic, where Emilie rediscovers love, is aimed at both patients and those around them who often think that, when the treatment protocol is over, life will resume its course.
