Toulouse: his car was impounded during the Prime Minister’s visit, a Toulouse resident asks for explanations
When the Prime Minister came to Toulouse on September 25, many vehicles were set off at the impound, at the large roadblock for motorists in the Saint-Cyprien district.
The visit of the Prime Minister to Toulouse on September 25 was variously appreciated. The day after Jean Castex’s official visit, we relate in our columns the sad story of this Toulouse woman received by the police to join her mother who was dying in hospital. In recent days, other Toulousans have been part of their anger over the difficulties that this room had been engendered. This is the case of Vincent, a resident of the Saint-Cyprien district, who says he is waiting for “an answer and explanations” from the municipality. Like many residents of the neighborhood, his car was reported at the impound the day before the Prime Minister’s room. Or, assures Vincent, who pays an annual subscription to park in the neighborhood, “no sign prohibited parking in the neighborhood”.

“On Saturdays, I want to access my vehicle but the neighborhood is full of law enforcement agencies with access to rue Viguerie. I then explain my situation and the gendarmes accompany me to show me that no more vehicles are parked in this street. Having spent Friday evening next to rue Viguerie, I can attest that many vehicles were still parked there on Friday evening, as is regularly the case. What a shame ! I had to pay 130 € to collect my vehicle. I also received a fine of 35 euros that I will logically contest, ”says the Toulouse resident.
“It’s extremely brutal”
Arthur, a resident of the same neighborhood, has a garage, so he is not one of the unlucky motorists. However, he confirms that he did not see any parking prohibition signs before the Prime Minister came. “Through my window, I saw three cars from the pound driving the cars parked on the street. I understand that there are security measures, but it is extremely brutal, it is necessary to put papers in the mailboxes. Afterwards, I saw A4 sheets stuck on panels and drowned in the mass of information. I understand that people are pissed off. “
Asked, the town hall of Toulouse replied that the route of the official visit had been “confirmed with the municipal police on Thursday, September 23 at 5 pm”, that the temporary stop prohibiting parking had been “taken in the evening even and the signage put in place immediately at the entrances to the perimeters concerned, so that the regulatory deadline of 24 hours of advertising is respected ”.
“This delay takes into account the ban on parking for more than 24 hours in the same place, in Toulouse. Any local resident was therefore able, within this period – during at least one minimum movement of the vehicle to be carried out – to take note of the temporary order ”, adds the municipality.
