Prague – Representatives of coalition parties Together and Pirates and Mayors and Independents (STAN) should agree on the schedule of further meetings at the first post-election negotiations on the government today. In the coming weeks, the parties should address specific program areas and future policy arrangements. Discussions on the division of ministries and their occupation are described as premature by coalition representatives.
The opposition coalitions Together (ODS, KDU-ČSL and TOP 09) and Pirates with STAN agreed on Saturday after the elections to intend to form a majority government together. In the memorandum, I call on President Miloš Zeman to instruct ODS chairman Petr Fiala to negotiate the establishment of a cabinet and declare that none of the future government will negotiate with any other political entity.
ODS deputy chairman Zbyněk Stanjura said on Tuesday that the agreement on the program statement will be given priority in the coming weeks, and only then will the division of ministries and personnel be discussed. “Everywhere it takes weeks, when things go well, and months, when things go a little worse. If it was possible to have a government with confidence by the end of the year or January, I would consider it a great result,” he said.
According to the Pirates and STAN, the schedule of negotiations should be set so that it is possible to compile a list of topics on which the formed coalition does not agree within two weeks. “The most up-to-date is the negotiations on the inaugural meeting of the Chamber of Deputies, we will wait for the proposal to come up with Together as the winner of the elections,” said STAN Chairman Vít Rakušan.
