The Prefect of the Alpes-Maritimes and the Prefect delegated to the reconstruction of the valleys have suggested that the Principality approach the Heritage Foundation to implement this sponsorship.
Thus Mr. Pierre Dartout, Minister of State of Monaco, and Mr. Guillaume Poitrinal, President of the Heritage Foundation, in the presence of HSH Prince Albert II, of Mr. Bernard Gonzalez, Prefect of the Alpes Maritimes, of Mr. Xavier Pelletier, Prefect delegated for the reconstruction of the valleys, of Mr. Laurent Stefanini, Ambassador of France in Monaco, and many Monegasque and French personalities, signed an agreement on October 8, 2021.
This agreement allows, in accordance with the wishes of the Sovereign Prince, the mobilization of a budget of three million euros for the specific benefit of reconstruction operations in the valleys of Roya, Vésubie and Tinée. Each valley will receive a donation of one million euros.
The Heritage Foundation will be responsible for ensuring the implementation and realization of projects, support for project leaders in conjunction with the monitoring committee.
This committee, made up of representatives of the Monegasque State, the Prefecture of the Alpes-Maritimes and the Foundation, responsible for action on the ground with the municipalities concerned and consultation with the Department of the Alpes-Maritimes, the Nice Metropolis Côte d’Azur and the French Riviera Agglomeration Community.
The Heritage Foundation “appreciates the dual recognition of its “know-how”: first by the Prefecture of the Alpes Maritimes, which has proposed to the government of Monaco to entrust it with this responsibility; and by HSH Prince Albert II who accepted it“.
The Alpes-Maritimes Heritage Foundation is run by a team of volunteers:
Departmental delegate: Jean-Louis Marquès
Deputy Delegates: Marcel Bonifassi, Michèle Cianéa, Jacques Joncour, Robert Malausséna, Johanna Néplaz, Monique Toche, and Marie-Thérèse Rebat
and by a project manager, Réjane Lavagna.
