Exhibitions: in Florence ‘I love Lego’ with Santa Croce and bell tower – Tuscany

Review at Istituto degli Innocenti from 13 October to 31 January

(ANSA) – FLORENCE, 12 OCT – The legendary colored bricks, which were part of the childhood of many children, are the protagonists of the ‘I love Lego’ exhibition at the Innocenti museum in Florence. The exhibition, from 13 October to 31 January, leads to the discovery of the playful side of seven works created by a group of collectors among the most important in Europe: from the frenzy of the contemporary city to the legendary adventures of pirates; from medieval landscapes to the splendors of Ancient Rome in a faithful reproduction of the Forum of Augustus; from the conquest of space, to the suggestive reproduction of an arctic landscape to arrive at the Liberation scenario. To this are added site specific reproductions signed by Luca Petraglia of two iconic monuments of the city of Florence: the facade of the Basilica of Santa Croce, built in the Gothic style between 1853 and 1863, with a construction of about 30 thousand bricks, and the Giotto’s bell tower of the Florence Cathedral of 1300, with 100 thousand bricks and more than three meters high. Also on display are some of the main interpreters of the Lego universe such as Stefano Bolcato with his Oils on canvas, reinterpretations in ‘Lego men’ version of the largest and most famous paintings and masterpieces in the history of art, from the Mona Lisa to the most current paintings of Frida Kahlo; but also the comic cartoons / installations of the Legolize collective where comedy becomes art.

Activities and workshops for families are also proposed, including the character hunt focused on the main figures revisited over the years by Lego: from Harry Potter to Dart Vader, from Batman to Homer of the Simpsons. (HANDLE).
