Darts elite reach for European championship title in Salzburg
The Englishman Phil Taylor and the Dutchman Michael van Gerwen each have four European Championship titles, defending champion is the Scot Peter Wright. Suljovic could meet him in the round of 16.
Ex-finalist Suljovic plays in Salzburg
Before that, the local hero has to defeat the Englishman Adam Hunt in the “best of 11 legs” mode on Thursday, Wright has the German Florian Hempel as an opening opponent. The second round (“best of 19”) would be on the program for Suljovic on Saturday, on Sunday it will be from the quarter-finals to the title decision. Both semifinals and finals are played “best of 21”. As in the last two years, the endowment for the event is 500,000 euros.

Darts winner receives 120,000 euros
120,000 euros of this go to the tournament winner. The finalist collects 60,000 euros, the two semi-finalists 32,000 euros each. The first-round losers remain each 6,000 euros. The betting shops see Gerwyn Price from Welsh as the first contender for the title, followed by Wright and van Gerwen. Suljovic is ranked 14th with a quote of 34: 1. The 49-year-old’s greatest European success was reaching the final in 2016, when he lost 1:11 in the title duel to van Gerwen. In 2020 Suljovic came in the round of 16.
