When life marches past the firing squad
First Blood is a novel in which Amélie Nothomb meets in the skin of her father, to whom she pays a vibrant tribute, in the form of a tale. A succession of flashbacks traces the youth of this man until he was taken hostage in the Congo in 1964. A breathless firing squad scene opens and closes the book. With a morality “We must not underestimate the rage to survive”. Amélie Nothomb was born in Kobe in 1967. “From her first novel, Hygiène de l’Assassin, published in 1992, she established herself as a unique writer. In 1999, she obtained with Stupeur et tremblements the Grand Prix of the French Academy ”, recalls the Cultura site.
