Turkey’s victory on penalties – Norway’s World Cup hope lives on

The Turks gave up a 1-0 lead against Norway on Friday and played 1-1. Monday’s victory in Latvia means that the team is involved in the battle for World Cup games.
Veteran Burak Yilmaz scored the decisive winning goal after 99 minutes. It gives new Turkish hope.
– We can not care about that. We have seen that Turkey has both conceded goals and scored towards the end of the matches, said Norway’s national team manager Ståle Solbakken.
If the Norwegian team wins its next two matches, it means guaranteed Norwegian pool victory. Norway beat Montenegro 2-0 on Monday after a goal by Mohamed Elyounoussi.
The group leader will get a World Cup place directly, while the two will go through and replay in March next year. There are four teams participating that play semifinals and finals for another World Cup ticket.
The Netherlands beat Gibraltar 6-0 and lead the pool with 19 points. Norway has 17 against Turkey 15.
Remaining matches, November 13: Norway – Latvia, Turkey – Gibraltar, Montenegro – Netherlands.
November 16: Gibraltar – Latvia, Montenegro – Turkey. Netherlands – Norway.
In the event of a tie, the goal difference takes effect.
