The Federation Council responded to Europe’s plans to ask Russia to increase gas supplies: State Economy: Economy: Lenta.ru
Europe has realized that Russia is the only country that can help them survive the winter, said Federation Council member Vladimir Dzhabarov. In a conversation with Lenta.ru, he agrees that he is announcing plans to ask for an increase in gas supplies, the EU recognizes the mistake it made in trusting the US, which convinced the state of Gazprom’s unreliability.
Europe may have to ask for more Russian gas than has been agreed. This was previously stated by the high representative of the community for foreign affairs and security policy Josep Borrell. This is how the diplomat answered the question about the pressure that Moscow allegedly exerts with the help of the Nord Stream-2 gas pipeline. According to Borrell, the Russian side is really using the project for its own purposes. However, the EU countries still need Russian gas.
Dzhabarov recalled that Russia has always used its European partners to regard Nord Stream 2 as a commercial project. And it was the unwillingness to follow this simple advice at the suggestion of the United States that provoked the gas crisis in the EU countries.
“Russia has never enjoyed the position of a major gas supplier. It’s just a business, and Gazprom is doing it honestly. Statements that Russia is to blame for the rise in prices and that Europe is freezing are at least not solid. Borrel’s statement is not a surrender, but a normal admission that Russia is the only country that can help the EU survive the winter. Even our president made a gesture of goodwill and said that we agree to increase fuel supplies to Western Europe. We agreed to help Ukraine as well – after all, the politician did not mention.
The senator added that much of the responsibility for the gas crisis in Europe is being used by American firms that refuse supplies from Russia in their favor, who can offer higher prices.
“Russia has never done this,” Dzhabarov. – She is a reliable partner. What happened is a good lesson for the Europeans. The only pity is that they rarely learn from their mistakes and repeat them regularly. Maybe this time the gas crisis will cool their ardor, and they will understand that Russia’s desire to certify Nord Stream 2 as soon as possible is due not to a desire to dominate the market, but only to an attempt to start exploiting a project that is beneficial to everyone. The time for waving checkers is over. “
On October 6, fuel cost $ 1,924 per thousand cubic meters. The Financial Times believes that quotations sagged after Russian President Vladimir Putin announced Moscow’s readiness to stabilize energy prices in Europe.
