Kassel / Wiesbaden (dpa / lhe) – In the wage conflict of the public service in Hesse, the Verdi union has called for nationwide protests for today. The largest rallies are to take place in Wiesbaden, Kassel, Gießen and Darmstadt. Verdi negotiator Christine Behle is expected in Wiesbaden (9.30 a.m.) and the Hessian district manager Jürgen Bothner in Giessen (11.45 a.m.).
Together with other unions, Verdi is demanding five percent more salaries, but at least 175 euros, for the 45,000 state employees. Interior Minister Peter Beuth (CDU) asks for this request. An offer from the state has not yet been received. The next round of negotiations is planned for October 14th and 15th in Dietzenbach (Offenbach district). Verdi regional manager Bothner expressed his willingness that a deal could then be concluded.
