Swedish retailer ICA Gruppen has reported a sales growth of 0.6% compared to the previous year in similar stores in September 2021.
Total sales for the period amounted to SEK 10.3 billion (EUR 1.02 billion) excluding VAT, which corresponds to sales growth of 0.9%, the company noted.
Similarly, the convenience store chain ICA Nära saw the highest sales growth of 1.9% to SEK 1.6 billion (EUR 160 million). It was followed by Maxi ICA Supermarket and registered sales growth of 1.1% to SEK 3.3 billion (EUR 330 million).
The calendar effect in September is estimated to be + 0.2%, the retailer noted. ICA Gruppen’s store network comprised 1,266 stores on September 30, 2021.
ICA Supermarket reported a marginal growth of 0.1% in similar sales to SEK 2.97 billion, while ICA Kvantum remained unchanged with sales of SEK 2.5 billion.
In August, the Swedish retailer saw sales growth of 0.2% compared with the previous year to SEK 11.2 billion (EUR 1.1 billion).
Performance of the year
The company’s total sales amounted to SEK 98.5 billion between January and September 2021, an increase of 1.2% compared with the same period last year.
ICA Nära saw the highest similar sales growth of 2.9% to SEK 14.9 billion, followed by Maxi ICA Supermarket with 1.7%, with sales of SEK 31.7 billion.
ICA Supermarket and ICA Kvantum showed similar sales growth of 0.4% during this period, with sales of SEK 28.2 billion and SEK 23.7 billion, respectively.
ICA Gruppen reported an increase in the Group’s net sales by 1.5% during the second quarter of the financial year to SEK 32.4 billion (EUR 3.16 billion), and noted that Apotek Hjärtat and Rimi Baltic operations both saw “strong earnings improvements” during the period .
