San Marino: part of the restoration of the arcades of Borgo Maggiore, Unesco heritage
The interventions will concern the safety of the attic covering the arcades and the construction of new public toilets

After the general cleaning of the stone, carried out in recent years, the extraordinary maintenance works will start on October 20 that will affect the arcades of Borgo Maggiore which are part of the site included in the UNESCO World Heritage List since July 7, 2008. the Territory and the Environment announces, in fact, that it has concluded the authorization process following the agreement reached with the Parish of Saints Antimo and Marino, the last technical step that was missing to start the extraordinary maintenance work on the attic of coverage of the arcades and the construction of new public toilets for the removal of architectural barriers.
The direction of the architectural works will be in charge of the AASLP, as Contracting Body and supervisor, while for the direction of the structural works has been appointed the engineer. Davide Bartolini. Furthermore, the construction site will have the surveyor Danilo Maiani as safety manager while the engineer Livio Benedettini will take care of the testing of the structures during construction. “With the beginning of the works, a problem will be resolved that for years had seen the citizens of the Borgo Maggiore Castle engaged in asking the institutions for a definitive solution to restore the place to the burghers and bring it back to its extraordinary historical and architectural value and to the center of the life of the Republic of San Marino“, reads a note from the Secretariat of State for the Territory and the Environment, which adds: “a first step concrete in a process that will see the Secretariat of State for the Territory and the Environment at the forefront of redeveloping the spaces of the historic center of Borgo, also following the strong request received from the current Castle Council “.
