Kajetanerplatz: fountains officially opened – SALZBURG24
The new fountain at Kajetanerplatz in the city of Salzburg was officially put into operation at the beginning of October by City Councilor Martina Berthold (citizen list). After the first few weeks of trial operation, the programmed water features start and invite you to play or linger on the fountain banks. In the one-hour water feature cycle, fountains up to two meters high provide surprises. The only downer: the icy temperatures in October.
Fountain at Kajetanerplatz
The two architects Udo Heinrich and Oliver Gachowetz have created a new center on Kajetanerplatz with the new fountain with a diameter of eight meters. 120 floor nozzles, arranged in two circles and fountains up to two and a half meters high, provide a surprise and cool down on hot days.
barrier-free
“Our old town squares should be attractive lounges for people of all ages. It was therefore important to me that the fountain is accessible and invites you to play, ”says Berthold happily.
Around the new fountain, three arched granite benches invite you to linger. The ventilation for the fountain system is integrated into these benches. Together with ten individual bollards, they create another lounge area. The new fountain, including the technical system and seating, costs 430,000 euros. In addition, benches with armrests are set up.
Drinking fountain quenches thirsty Salzburg residents
A few meters away from the new fountain, the previous Gertrude Hillinger-Diener fountain was converted into a market pillar with a drinking water dispenser and the previous water bowl was planted with greenery. In addition, a wheelchair-accessible granite water dispenser was set up to enable barrier-free drinking pleasure.
