Judit Polgár’s method was discussed with appreciation at the World Chess Festival
Budapest – The World Chess Festival, ordered for the first time from a hybrid, was of great interest, and the Hungarian National Gallery became a real chess palace.
The all-day Saturday event featured a theme of creativity and innovation, which can be seen embodied in special performances. The biggest innovation of this year was the international conference (Educational Chess Summit), among which Ernő Rubik spoke about his famous achievements in the power of education, according to him “the path to the success of the next generation is undoubtedly to be found in game-based education”.
“Chess is not changing classrooms, it’s changing school culture,” chess education consultant Jerry Nash said, pointing out that the game dramatically improves children’s attitudes to learning. He explained that children developed with the help of chess have one-on-one feelings of “yes I can do it”.
“I sincerely hope that our Erasmus + teacher training academies will adopt the Chess Palace approach,” said Mariya Gabriel, European Commissioner for Innovation, Research, Culture, Education and Youth, Commissioner, who cited Judit Polgár as a role model.
The International and European Chess Federation, as well as the Ministry of Human Resources, called Judit Polgár’s skills development education programs exemplary.
The organizations have set themselves the goal of professionally supporting and promoting the Judit Polgár Method worldwide through cooperation agreements.
The event was also of great interest to many traditional parties, which were able to test their knowledge against Judit Polgár and Grandmaster Zoltán Almási, and there were a large number of visits to dedicate Judit Polgár’s book Be a Championship.
