Fresher face and extra homes for Banne Noord
The Municipal Executive wants to invest 12 million euros in refurbishing the Banne Noord district. The future plans include the construction of nearly 500 homes.
Banne Noord is located in the Noord district. The 1970s neighborhood has a lot of greenery, but is outdated and in dire need of a renovation make over. Residents notice this from subsidence in the street, flooding and outdated facilities, among other things. With our extra investments, this district also benefits from the rapid development of Amsterdam North.
the plans
We have the future plans for Banne Noord together with residents. Over the past 3 years, they have been intensively thinking along, watching and co-designing. In addition to the additional homes, the main points in the project are:
- We refurbish the greenery in the district. The greenery around the Parlevinkerpad will become a ‘real’ park and the characteristic green courtyards between the buildings will be renovated.
- We are creating more meeting places for local residents. A new, multifunctional building for art and culture will be built centrally in the district, on the Parlevinker. There will also be a new ‘neighborhood room’ and a new youth building where neighbors can meet and participate in activities.
- We are improving traffic safety in the neighbourhood, with more walking and cycling paths, speed bumps and better parking facilities.
485 additional homes
The plans for the future are about 485 locations for various target groups on the Noorderlatitude, Fovinkmast-Parner and the Driemaster. This new construction is largely an addition to existing homes. However, 29 homes for the elderly are being demolished to make room for 233 new homes. The sloop only starts when the new homes for these residents are ready.
City council decides
The municipality still has to vote on the plans and investments on 10 November. If that happens, we can make the first move in 2022 with the refurbishment of the Parlevinkerpark and 5 hoven. We are also working out some of the new-build plans and we want to take other future plans in the project a step further. In all phases of the project, we remain in contact with the residents of Banne Noord.
