Events – Convent of the Jacobins of Toulouse
A great French photographer, Jean Dieuzaide has worked all his life to recognize his art. On the occasion of the centenary of his birth, the City of Toulouse is devoting a major retrospective exhibition to him at the Couvent des Jacobins, from December 4, 2021 to March 6, 2022, curated by the historian of photography Françoise Denoyelle.
From today, you can discover “Dieuzaide dans la ville”, an itinerary highlighting ten emblematic sites of the life and work of the photographer, hosting around thirty large format prints. The journey takes us to essential places and other more intimate places for an approach to the multiple facets of Jean Dieuzaide’s work, according to the neighborhoods he knew so well. The taste and interest of the latter for subjects as varied as architecture, science, Romanesque art, cultural life, economic and urban development or even photographic experiments, find expression with points of view sensitive or unexpected.
This route designed by the Municipal Archives guides the visitor in the artist’s footsteps, virtually via the site urban-hist.toulouse.fr , but also in the streets of the city, an original way to discover Toulouse and Jean Dieuzaide.
