“Delivered home safely” – Coventry City fans share the joy and concern of the star man
Viktor Gyokeres continued his impressive start to the season by earning his third cap for his country this weekend, and Coventry City fans love it.
The Sky Blues striker was called up to international service with Sweden shortly after hanging on in the 4-1 CBS Arena victory over Fulham, after the news that star man Zlatan Ibrahimovic had been ruled out due to injury.
The 23-year-old, who has scored an outstanding nine goals in his first 11 championship games for Mark Robin’s men, connected with his national team and spent the week training with them ahead of Saturday’s World Cup qualifier against Kosovo, which Sweden won 3-0.
Gyokeres started on the bench and was thrown on for the last four minutes of extra time, going on in the 91st minute.

He replaced Juventus forward Dejan Kulusevski and came straight into the match with a shot on goal that was blocked.
Afterwards, the City star tweeted his joy and said: “What a feeling, hard to take in but a dream to make a debut in the national team. Thanks to everyone who has been on their way to new goals. ”
Gyokeres will now hope to get better with more pitch time tomorrow night when Sweden host Greece in their second match in the international break.
Sky Blues fans shared their joy with their hero as they watched his progress from a distance, many hoping he gets more playing time and a goal, while another is more worried about his return to Ryton later this week unharmed and ready for Saturday’s trip to Blackburn Rovers.
