Crotone Airport Citizen Committee asks Ryanair for flights to Pisa and Turin

Ryanair continues to invest in Italy by opening new bases with the consequent warning of new routes also encouraged by the suspension of the municipal surcharges on boarding.
Thanks to these factors and to the always full planes from the Pythagorean airport, Ryanair also increases its routes from Crotone by inserting the flight to Venice in its schedule from March 2022.
The Crotone Airport Citizen Committee has asked the airline to be able to re-evaluate the flight to Pisa and also the one to Turin. The two airports are also bases of the Irish company and the inclusion of flights to and from Tuscany and Piedmont would not be complex. We are confident that these two flights will be remarkably successful with a truly satisfying fill rate.
During the month, the Committee began to contact various institutional and political interlocutors to address the issue of the municipal surcharge on boarding for airports of less than one million passengers so that this provision, now provisional, remains in the future; in this regard, last week, we had an online meeting with the president of AirGest Salvatore Ombra. The suspension would allow airports such as Crotone to be more interesting from an economic point of view for airlines as they would save € 6.50 for each boarding.
The Crotone Airport Citizen Committee continues to ask the Ministry and ENAC to reorganize the airport system by providing a more streamlined procedure to ensure territorial continuity, at least ten-year funding and the establishment of an observatory.
In fact, service charges often only get funding for a few years and the process is very complex.
Just think that the funding obtained through the law in the budget in 2018 for service charges has not yet materialized in flights under the responsibility of the same ministry !!!
In fact, the ministry is the main subject that possesses all those skills necessary to achieve what he himself proposes!
Over the years, the Ministry has not contributed to the conclusion of this process. The committee recalls, in fact, that the first conference of services produced an elaborate, at the base of the ministerial decree, which was rejected by the European Community causing the delay of almost a year of the notice of imposition of service charges.
After the rejection of the European Community, the conference of services carried out asynchronously did not substantially modify the announcement, despite the pandemic in progress, leaving in the same elements that made it unattractive, causing the tender for the service charges to be deserted !! !
It is fair to understand that the technical and economic skills on the airport sector in the services conference are unequivocally represented by the airport manager Sacal, the Ministry of Transport and the ENAC while the Calabria region and the province of Crotone, representing the territory, express more than anything else the needs of citizens that are, in fact, the technicians to find the appropriate solutions so that the territorial continuity recognized in 2002 is realized!
Meanwhile, citizens face daily travel for work, health and study with enormous inconvenience!
We will try to understand in the coming days the state of the procedure for imposing service charges by requesting both the Calabria Region and the Ministry for institutional meetings because it is very important for the entire territory to have the Crotone-Rome flight as quickly as possible.
The committee with enormous regret noted the lack of interest on the part of the Calabrian parliamentarians on the proposals drawn up on the reorganization of the air transport system which, instead, prefer to fuel useless and inconclusive discussions!
