Before the final group game, both teams have 12 points in their books: Bolzano and Salzburg have already qualified for the CHL round of 16. Whoever decides the game on Tuesday evening, however, grabs first place in group H and comes into the first pot in the draw for the round of 16 on Friday (these teams meet a second-placed team from another group).
Bozen won both duels (once in the ICE) against Salzburg this season. The 5-3 victory in the CHL last Tuesday in Salzburg was a real get-down to business. In other words: Both teams acted with great severity.
Foxes engine last stuttered
After this brilliant victory in Salzburg, however, the Füchse suffered a damper twice in the league at the weekend. There was one defeat against Innsbruck and Villach. Now the foxes want to make amends and at the same time grab the group victory in the CHL.
Coach Doug Mason will have to do without two key players, however: Defender Alex Trivellato is likely to be sidelined for one more game. His return is scheduled for Friday while striker Dan Catenacci is suspended.
Numerous players will again be absent from the Salzburg team. Among other things, the Eppaner Peter Hochkofler is injured. That is why Matt McIlvane will send a young team onto the ice again on Tuesday (8:20 p.m.) in the ice wave.
