ALDI Portugal invites Portuguese illustrators to decorate reusable bags
Carolina Maria, Sofia Morais and Tiago Albuquerque are the three Portuguese illustrators whose work occupies the new reusable bags from ALDI Portugal. To this end, each illustrator was challenged to develop a creativity that reflected one of the pillars of the food retailer’s performance.
Using the technique of engraving, Sofia Morais was responsible for the creativity of the bag allusive to Sustainable Fishing; Carolina Maria, through digital illustration, signed the bag of Frescos Nacionais and, finally, Tiago Albuquerque illustrated the theme of Biological Products, using the technique of vector digital illustration.
In all, there will be six bags that represent the best that ALDI has to offer to Portuguese families and will be made available in two places. In addition to the three bags that are already available at ALDI stores, for the second launch, scheduled for 2022, the Portuguese will be able to find three other bags allusive to Fair Trade, Vegetarian Offer and Animal Welfare.
Sustainability
The initiative appears as a way to reinforce the long-standing commitment to the environment and its natural resources and aims to draw consumers’ attention to the importance of their actions in their daily lives.
For Ricardo Santos, Marketing and Communication Director at ALDI Portugal, “by challenging these illustrators to collaborate with us, we are also discovering a new way to promote their talent and their work and make them known to the Portuguese. It is also a way of supporting and contributing to the production of national talent”. By making more sustainable alternatives available to our customers, an ALDI intention is to encourage the use of reusable bags as a way to reduce the consumption of single-use plastics. ”.
The new reusable bags, made of 100% recycled polypropylene, have a cost of €0.99 and can be found in ALDI stores from north to south of the country as of October 11th.
