Toulouse: two brothers arrested in possession of € 1,600, a handgun and drugs
Two brothers were arrested on Wednesday by the police in Toulouse. During the searches, investigators found a handgun and drugs.
This Wednesday, the attention of the police was signaled by a man, Tintoretto, in Toulouse. Followed, the individual would then have shouted several times to alert the presence of the police, before fleeing. Caught up, he was found in possession of 1,600 euros in cash and was taken into police custody. A search of the family home uncovered a handgun and 70g of cannabis in his brother’s vehicle. The two brothers were on trial this Friday by the Toulouse Criminal Court.
In the box of the defendants, the youngest, 25 years old, already convicted of possession of narcotics, categorically denies having shouted to alert of the presence of the police. “It’s my money that I put aside every month. If I leave it at home, it is likely to disappear, ”he explains regarding the amount found on him.
“You work, are socially integrated. Comment on comes into possession of a weapon and narcotics? », The president wonders. “With us, there are some people who put pressure on us to keep things. I succumbed for fear of reprisals ”, answers the eldest, 27 years old and known for petty traffic offenses.
Relaxed for the benefit of the doubt
The version of the first does not convince the public prosecutor who requires six months’ imprisonment with a committal warrant: “Not everyone is walking around with 1,600 euros in cash”. She underlines “facts of extreme gravity. On a weapon that can kill! », Before requesting two years of imprisonment with a warrant of committal concerning the elder.
For the defense, provided by Me Assia Derbali and Me Jocelyn Momasso-Momasso, the requisitions are “totally disconnected from the reality of the neighborhoods” for two socially integrated young people who are subjected to it.
Their arguments were heard by the court, which relaxed the former for the benefit of the doubt and sentenced the latter to imprisonment on day parole.
