Toulouse. TMB falls for the first time
The SIG has struck a big blow. In the lead for a large part of the meeting, she won, last night, her third straight league victory against Toulouse, announced as the big favorite of Ligue 2. Faced with the Toulouse steamroller, the mission of Fabien’s players Kaerlé was to stay as long as possible in the match to make TMB doubt and believe in the feat.
Driven by the far-flung address of Hatchi and Saint-Juste at the start of the meeting, the SIG immediately did better than resist (19-12, 7th). The defensive pressure from Toulouse is growing and the visitors pick up the pace, find solutions in attack to take a little lead on a three-point shot from their precious captain Strunc (24-32, 15th). Far from disuniting after this complicated passage, the SIG puts its game back in place and the ball moves well in attack. The two successive prize-winners of Hatchi and Dambach bring back the Illkirchoises in the match: the latter, by playing the shot perfectly well in the last minutes of the first act, even offer themselves the luxury of taking the lead at the break (38-35 ). We had to expect a big reaction from the big favorite for the climb. She won’t come… right away!
A crazy end to the game
The SIG remains solid after the locker room and it is even the partners of Imane El Garti who manage the pace in this third quarter (44-37, 24th; 48-41, 27th). At the time of approaching the last period (53-48), the suspense remains whole. The Toulouse ogre puts the pressure and returns to the top of the three-point shoots signed Strunc and Brochant (55-62, 35th).
In this last quarter, Toulouse thinks they have made the difference. This is without counting on the envy and energy of the Illkirchoises. And the incredible will happen at the last second. While the SIG is motivated by one point (63-64), Hatchi gets up to three points and the Toulouse defense commits a fault. The leader scores two of her three free throwers to give victory to her team. Incredible and so deserved!
