Runaway driver after running over two people in IC19
Two people were run over this Sunday at IC19, near Hospital Prof. Dr. Fernando Fonseca (known as Amadora-Sintra), when they were preparing to tow a damaged car. The driver has escaped and is a being wanted by the PSP.
The accident happened at 8.25 hours, towards Sintra-Lisbon, explained to JN, a source from the Metropolitan Command of Lisbon (Cometlis) of the PSP. The causes are the drivers of the damaged vehicle and the trailer.
One of the men, 57 years old, was in a serious condition and was transported to the Hospital de Santa Maria, in Lisbon. The other wounded, 34 years old, suffered minor injuries and was transferred to the Prof. Hospital. Dr. Fernando Fonseca.
The Emergency and Resuscitation Medical Vehicle (VMER) of this health unit was also at the site.
By 1 pm this Sunday, the driver of the car that ran over the two men was still being sought by the PSP, added the source of Cometlis. The running over took place after having collided with one of the vehicles stopped at the scene of the accident. At issue may be a crime of omission of aid.
