Murder on Alexanderplatz – 22-year-old in custody – BZ Berlin
Just 12 hours after the homicide of a Vietnamese (27) on Alexanderplatz, the investigators of the 5th homicide squad caught a suspect.

The alleged perpetrator is said to be the Pakistani Raza A. (22). The man last lived in a refugee shelter in Kreuzberg.
The suspect was overpowered and arrested by police officers near the crime scene on Friday night. On Saturday he was presented to a judge, a spokeswoman for the Berlin public prosecutor said on Sunday.
“Because of the urgent suspicion of crime, pre-trial detention was ordered”. The man is now in custody.
At the request of the BZ, the police did not want to comment on further details and backgrounds for tactical reasons.
According to BZ information, the victim was brutally hit in the face, and the perpetrator is said to have inflicted serious head injuries with a broken bottle.

An employee discovered the seriously injured man on Friday morning at around 6:20 a.m. on the water stairs at Alex and alerted the rescue workers. Despite attempts to resuscitate, the victim died on the spot.
It is unclear whether the Pakistani made any statements during the interrogation. The homicide investigation is ongoing.
