For more than two years, a few dozen feminist activists have been demonstrating regularly in front of the Toulouse courthouse, regretting the weakness of the measures deployed to protect women victims of domestic violence.
Like every month, they find themselves in front of the Toulouse court this Wednesday at the stroke of noon, at a time when the sirens are blaring over the city. For more than two years, a handful of women have demonstrated to denounce rape and violence in front of the steps of the courthouse. They regularly update the accounts of feminicides committed throughout France, and that Release has been listing in a large format since January 1, 2017. A new one took place in Toulouse on September 19. The victim, Willinelle, was 23 years old.
For the hard core of twenty activists, mostly retired, who wondered at the end of the summer about the advisability of continuing this long-term action, this new murder was like an electric shock. “As long as victims and families are not heard by justice and rapists and aggressors benefit from impunity, we will come back”, assures the Midi-Pyrénées Collective for Women’s Rights (CMPDF), which launched this “Round of angry women” with other feminist organizations in June 2019.
