In Grimaud, Belgium takes its revenge / Show jumping / Sport / Home
After the victories of Benoît Cernin and Harold Boisset on Saturday, it was the Belgian Gregory Wathelet who was the best this Sunday in the CSI4 * Grand Prix 155 at the Hubside Jumping in Grimaud. With Edesa’s Basantos (Casantos), a 15-year-old gelding, he is ahead of the German Kendra Claricia Brinkop and Kastelle Memo (Thunder van de Zuuthoeve) and one of his compatriots, the Belgian Jos Verlooy and Luciano van het Geinsteinde (Quinn van de Heffinck). In the CSI2 *, Julien Epaillard, once again on the Grimaud track, takes the lead.
In Grimaud, the Tricolores were in great shape on Saturday, it was the turn of the Belgian riders this Sunday! They are three to be classified among the first eight, by competing for the first, third and eighth places: Gregory Wathelet/ Edesa’s Basantos (Casantos) takes the victory (0 + 0, 37.65 at the jump-off), Jos Verlooy and Luciano van het Geinsteinde (Quinn van de Heffinck) are the third (0 + 0, 41.31) and Zoe Conter takes 8th place with his stallion Dawa de Greenbay Z (Diarado).
However, the Belgian driver who won the event was not accompanied by one of his usual mounts: “ Edesa’s is a horse that I don’t usually ride“, he explained.” It belongs to one of my students, I just have it for a few contests. The objective was above all to get it back on the road, I just wanted to do a Grand Prix so that it was really ready when its owner picked it up. He is an experienced horse who, used to these heights, always behaves very well. I knew the jump-off was going to be tight, there were a lot of us and especially the first (Kendra Claricia Brinkop) was very fast. I had however seen the possibility of removing a stride on the last obstacle. No one before me did it, the distance seemed very long to me anyway, but he has a great action so I did it and that’s where we widened the gap. The first round was a good 4 *, delicate while remaining affordable, especially for young riders and horses for these events are a springboard to 5 *. I am staying here next week so I hope to repeat, even if it will be with another horse. “
The Tricolores are not far in the standings, however: with their excellent Le Coultre de Muze (Presley Boy), Philippe Rozier took 4th place, signing a clear double, 42.71 at the jump-off. Harold Boisset, victorious yesterday, also signed a good performance with Verone de la Roque (Kannan): the couple took sixth place (0 + 4), just ahead Morgan bordat and Uma (Calvaro FC)

Julien Epaillard, once again!
A few hours before, in the 2 * Grand Prix, it is a fan of Grimaud, who has many victories to his name, who once again won. The Tricolor, Julien Epaillard, in the saddle on Cheyenne d’Auge (Guarana Champeix), did what he knows how to do perfectly: sign an impeccable and fast track. ” Two events, two victories, we can say that the weekend of Cheyenne is successful“, a commented the sportsman.”I am very happy with her, she is evolving day by day. What is really interesting is that after a jump-off like Friday where I had requested a lot, Cheyenne today manages to jump a Grand Prix while keeping the same freshness and the same desire. »Three seconds behind, Jur Vrieling with his gray Km Chalcedon (Calido I) has to be content with second place. Paul Delforge, already winner a little earlier in the day, is 3rd with Allblack de Gressoux (Pacific des Essarts).
