In Dijon, the Odysséa race mobilizes 6,500 athletes against breast cancer
In Dijon this Sunday it was a bit like the return of the “pink army”! After a year of hiatus due to Covid-19 last year, Odysséa brought together several thousand people under a beautiful sun. On the menu for participants of walking or running with routes of 5 to 10 km in the park of Colombière.
The 16th edition of Odysséa in Dijon
For the occasion all the participants wear a pink t-shirt related, of course, to “Pink October” and the fight against breast cancer. A 16th edition which marked fewer people than a “normal” year. It must be said that we usually flirt with the 8,000 runners. But Franck Brelaud, President of the Athletic Club de Talant, the athletic club that organizes Odysséa has good reason to be very satisfied. We are even beyond his expectations in terms of participation.
“We did not expect a level of participation like this. Since we are flirting with the 6,500 participants and given the circumstances we really did not expect this kind of crowd.” Depending on the year Osséa can receive between 40 and 60 thousand euros. This year it is 51 thousand euros that were collected. A sum that will be donated three quarters to the Georges-François Leclerc anti-cancer center in Dijon, the rest of this financial windfall will go to the palliative care unit of La Mirandière in Quetigny which follows patients at the end of their life as well as to an association.
