Canada will put pressure on Belarus to release political prisoners
Together with the international community, Canada will demand the release of all political prisoners from the ruling regime in Belarus.
Canada’s Mark Garneau reports an Ukrinform correspondent.
“Canada will continue to work with EU members, Great Britain and the United States to release detained Belarusians, including journalists and human rights activists,” Garneau said.
He agrees that “the violation of human rights and the aggression committed by Belarusian officials are absolutely unacceptable.” “We will continue to seek a dialogue on the existing ones between the government and the opposition, and, most importantly, to demand an end to active interference and violation of human rights,” the resolution is allowed.
Garneau is also the international community to strengthen the rules-based cooperation order.
As of October 8, human rights activists recognized 801 people as political prisoners in Belarus.
As reported, the European Union supported the sanctions imposed by the United States, the United States and Canada against the regime of Alexander Lukashenko.
Presidential elections were held in Belarus on August 9, 2020. Since then, there have been massive protests in the country against falsification of the election results, in which Alexander Lukashenko was declared the winner. The authorities brutally suppress speeches against the opposition and repression.
Most of the world’s democratic countries, including Ukraine, do not recognize the legitimacy of the Lukashenka regime.
