Toulouse: where are the new cinema projects in the metropolis
There will be no multiplex in Plaisance-du-Touch and Roques-sur-Garonne. But the new Central, in Colomiers, more modest, has every chance of success.
The circuits, regional or national, have always sharpened their weapons to settle in the Toulouse metropolis. Pathé-Gaumont was associated with the immense shopping area, today abandoned in its initial version, in Plaisance-du-Touch. For a long time, the CEO of Leclerc-Roques pushed for a multiplex to be set up near the hypermarket. From appeal to rejection, the project was abandoned. The case of the Megarama, which was to open at the end of 2019, in Basso-Cambo, near the Géant Casino, is representative. These 12 rooms (for 2000 seats) have never been unanimous, but the town hall of Toulouse has offered this offer of “neighborhood cinema”. Finally abandoned, the multiplex should be relaunched, which confirms Olivier Arsac, Deputy Mayor in charge of economic life, commerce and crafts: “Urban studies relating to the transformation of the Basso-Cambo site are being refined in order to to define the location of the cinema project carried by Megarama. This project is now. However, discussions are underway between the various partners and landowners in the sector to define an overall project ”.
As for the Véo de la Cartoucherie, 4 theaters (400 seats) are scheduled to open in 2023 at the same time as the Grande Halle, ”says Jean Vila, boss of the group which has 15 cinemas in France.
The opening of the new Central in Colomiers, also managed by Véo, is very close. This cinema with 5 screens and 772 seats, spectators will be able to discover from October 23, during an inauguration whose godmother will be Julie Gayet. “This cinema corresponds to the dimension of proximity that we defend and to the pursuit of educational, social and associative actions which are ours,” explains Karine Traval-Michelet, mayor of Colomiers. Access to culture must be as great as possible. A cinema participating in the city center dynamic is an important lever. “
Five rooms in Colomiers
Five rooms will open on October 23 in Colomiers. They will be defined by Véo, a regional group, based in Corrèze, which has made its Muret cinema the great success of the last decade in the agglomeration. Opened in 2013, the complex of 6 rooms (increased to 8 in 2015) has continued to see its attendance increase. By 2015, it had reached 535,000 admissions.
