The largest market in the south of the Republic of Moldova was opened in the village of Slobozia Mare, including with the support of natives abroad – Ziarul de Garda
In the village of Slobozia Mare, Cahul district was opened the largest market in southern Moldova. Residents of the region, but also beyond the Prut, can buy milk and cheese, fresh meat, vegetables and fruits, cereals and nuts, leather and fur products, handicrafts – all products of the approximately 1,400 entrepreneurs and households in the Prut. Slobozia Mare, according to the Swiss Cooperation Office.
The market was built from scratch with the support of Switzerland of 1.1 million lei in the project UNDP Moldova “Migration and local development” and with the support of 250 thousand lei from Diaspora Relations Office, through the government program “DAR 1 + 3”. The Cahul Rational Council contributed 300 thousand lei, Slobozia Mare City Hall 837 thousand lei, and 150 Moldovans from Slobozia Mare, settled in the diaspora, donated 177 thousand lei. The total cost of the works was 2.6 million lei.
The market, including the modern agri-food market, has a capacity of 20 places for the sale of meat and dairy products, 20 places for trade in trucks / cars, 25 places for stalls and five stalls for industrial products, according to UNDP Moldova.
The village of Slobozia Mare is one of the 25 localities supported by the Switzerland-UNDP project “Migration and local development” for the development of local economies.
